THE DAY AFTER

So, here we are, surgery done. Compared to the two first ones in the beginning of the year this one was really minor and I'm already feeling pretty ok again. When Jörgen and I got there we were without any longer waiting lead into a big  ward, which was separated into lot's of small compartments by curtains . That's how far Jörgen was allowed to follow. They really prepared 3 patients at he same time and everything resembled pretty much an assembly line principle. I was given a shirt, a cap and plastic bags to put over my shoes. My eye was cleaned with several pretty aggressive liquids, I was given drops to enlarge my pupil, a sedative pill and upon Jörgens request they also set a needle in my arm to be able to eventually give me more tranquillizers in case I would get too tense.  After having been given anaesthetic eyedrops, I was basically ready for the surgery. I had been really afraid of being awake and seeing everything, but the lamp was giving such a strong light right into the eye that that wasn't the case. Another fear of mine was that I might need to move, cough or sneeze while the surgeon was in the process of cutting in my eye, but he said as long as I'd warn him so that he can remove all intruments off my eye it'll be ok. Luckily I never had to ask him. During the process of the surgery my puls was going up to 119 or 190 (?), I felt my blood rush through every body part, but the nurse gave me her hand to hold, which made me a bit calmer. They  never gave me any additional sedative. 20 minutes later I stumbled back to my compartment, very shaky and unsteady on my legs. I was given some juice and sandwiches and after I had calmed down we could go home.

After the anaesthetic drops lost effect I got a pretty bad eye- and headache but also that is already gone today. Only sharp light is still hurting . I'm supposed to see blurry for a few days but I can already make out that I can see slightly better. Unfortunately also the tissue around the lens was affected by the cataract and probably has to be lasered when the eye has healed. So more waiting, more insecurity but hopefully my vision will get better in the end!

On Monday I can already go back to work if I don't get an infection. Hopefully I won't!!! And next Friday I have my first controll visit, then I will find out more.

glad to hear everything went so well, hun. i was thinking of you. just give yourself some time to rest this weekend and let jörgen take care of you :)

p.s. yeah, probably 190... 119 is only slighty higher than a "normal" pulse.

xoxo
